The After School Program at Silver Ridge Elementary is an on site child care program operating under guidelines set forth by the School Board of Broward County. It is our mission to serve the community by offering a quality program of developmentally appropriate activities in a wholesome environment. Students participate in daily homework time, as well as inside activities, arts and crafts, games and outside activities. Program hours are 2:00p.m. until 6:00p.m.. Fees for the program are assessed by the School Board and are payable on a monthly basis. When the After School Care Program is not in operation (e.g. teacher planning days, holidays, etc.) the fee charge is prorated. All students enrolled at Silver Ridge during the school day are eligible for attendance in the After Care Program.

The mission of Before and After School Child Care is to provide students with:
* An inclusive child care program that is safe and nurturing in a comfortable environment.
* A cultural enriching program that promotes the physical, intellectual, emotional and social development of each child.
* A program that meets the highest quality of child care standards.

Currently there are over 23,000 children being served in 170 Before and After School Child Care Programs. Programs at elementary schools, middle schools and centers are either School Board operated or are operated by a Private Provider. It is the decision of each school's Advisory Council to recommend the best program that meets the needs of their school. The principal shall select the provider of the school with the Area Superintendent's approval.

Your child will have the opportunity to have a snack, do their homework with assistance and then participate in several scheduled activities. These will include an academic enhancement, a technology session, creative play or dramatic arts, outdoor activity to enhance fitness and a free choice. Stop by your child's school to learn more about these enriching and exciting programs for students.

Parent Roles and Responsibilities
Parents or guardians are responsible for:

* Picking up child on time and following payment procedures
* Notifying program if child is going to be absent or plans to withdraw
* Keeping program informed of a change in emergency contact information
* Notifying program of any change in child’s health if participation is limited

As adults, we serve as role models for the children in our programs. If you have a concern, please address it in an appropriate and calm matter. You may want to set up a time to discuss your concerns. Should a situation occur within a program or due to inappropriate actions by parents, a child will be asked to leave the program.
